Sacramento County Public Health is proud to be an accredited health division through the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). This national accreditation signifies that Sacramento County Public Health meets rigorous, evidence-based standards aligned with the 10 Essential Public Health Services — the nationally recognized framework that defines the core functions of public health practice.
Achieving PHAB accreditation is a mark of excellence and accountability. It demonstrates our division’s commitment to delivering high-quality, equitable public health services to every resident of Sacramento County. Accreditation ensures that our programs, policies, and practices are continuously evaluated and improved, and that we are operating at a level consistent with the best health departments across the nation.
In April 2022, the Department of Health Services established a Health and Racial Equity Unit (HRE) within the Public Health division.
The HRE Unit works to expand and build health and racial equity programs, policies, and practices throughout Sacramento County Public Health (SCPH) to educate, eliminate, mitigate, and prevent existing and future health disparities and inequities that BIPOC and underserved communities face in Sacramento County.
